Overview

SMS: The foundation of effective communication

The MessageFlow SMS channel provides a reliable communication standard. You can access it through the intuitive dashboard or the programmatic API. Direct, certified operator connections (Direct Connections) guarantee the highest delivery quality and security. This applies to massive marketing campaigns as well as critical transactional notifications.

Use this universal channel to reach recipients regardless of their internet access or device type (smartphone or classic mobile phone).

Key security pillars (360 Shield)

The platform operates as more than just a delivery gateway. MessageFlow actively protects the brand and budget through the following mechanisms:

  • Anti-phishing and SMS spoofing: The system actively blocks attempts to impersonate the registered SMS Sender.

  • Certified routes: The platform uses only official connections. This eliminates the risk of message loss caused by low-cost intermediaries (grey routing).

  • GDPR compliance: The system handles opt-outs and securely manages the contact database.

Message types

Adapt the communication type to your specific goals:

  • Branded SMS (One-way): Display your configured SMS Sender name (e.g., company name) instead of a phone number. This builds trust and increases the Open Rate, as the recipient immediately identifies the sender.

  • 2-Way SMS: Use a 2-Way Number to allow recipients to reply to your messages. This is ideal for appointment confirmations, NPS surveys, or contests.

How to activate a 2-Way Number

Two-way communication requires a dedicated phone number.

  • Activation: Contact the sales department for individual pricing. After you agree on the terms, the Support Team configures the number on your account.

  • Benefits: This solution provides high throughput. This parameter is crucial when you handle large volumes of incoming and outgoing messages.

Technical specifications

To ensure effective delivery from both the Dashboard and the API, your campaigns must comply with GSM network standards:

  • SMS Sender: Use a maximum of 11 alphanumeric characters (letters and numbers). You may use the special character "&". Do not use diacritical marks in the sender name.

  • Message length: Limit your text to 160 characters for a single SMS. Note that special characters (e.g., diacritical marks, emojis) reduce the limit for a single message to 70 characters due to Unicode encoding.

  • Concatenation (Merging): If your text exceeds the character limit, the system automatically merges it into one longer message on the recipient's phone. Remember that the billing system counts this as two or more separate SMS messages.
